Visitor's Code of Conduct

Welcome to NRAO!

Code of Conduct

NRAO's code of conduct applies to employees, and to members of the public when visiting NRAO sites or interacting with NRAO staff. As a National Science Foundation-funded observatory, we take seriously our obligation to provide an environment free from sexual harassment, and other types of harassment.

Our code of conduct reflects NRAO's commitment to a workplace in which employees and visitors feel welcomed, valued, and safe.

We are proud of our reputation as an inclusive, welcoming organization and look forward to continuing to be a community-oriented observatory.

Visitors

The terms "visitor" includes, but is not limited to, collaborators, students, vendors, contractors, meeting/conference participants, tourists, and others who visit our sites, or attend NRAO-sponsored events and activities.

Anti-Sexual Harassment Policy

The NRAO is committed to providing an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, including an environment that is free from sexual harassment. Sexual harassment violates NRAO's commitment to a safe environment, and is illegal under federal, state, and local laws.  Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.

Non-Discrimination and Harassment

All employees and visitors have the right to expect a professional atmosphere that is free of discrimination or harassment of any kind, including on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin or any other characteristic protected by law.

Examples of prohibited harassing conduct include, but are not limited to: epithets, slurs, or negative stereotyping and microaggressions; threatening, intimidating, or hostile acts; denigrating jokes, written, or graphic material; refusal to use names and pronouns provided.
