If you realize that you have accidentally dialed 911, DO NOT HANG UP – wait for the 911 Operator to answer and inform them that there is no emergency. 911 calls ring to one location, the Dispatcher, who may or may not then notify NRAO staff.
If you've already hung up, re-dial 911 and explain that your previous call was an error. Emergency responders will come to your location unless you call and explain that the initial 911 call was an error.
If you do need 911 help, just stay at your location and try to remain quiet & as comfortable as you can. You should know that someone is trying to find you and that the emergency services have been alerted! The Dispatcher may or may not notify other NRAO staff about the emergency, but you will receive the assistance you need.
